The new realme 8 Pro boasts a 108-megapixel ultra quad camera, that incorporates Samsung's ISOCELL HM2 with a massive 1/1.52" sensor featuring ISOCELL Plus pixel isolation and a maximum resolution of 12000×9000, and it is now available in all realme stores and online.

realme Philippines officially launched its realme 8 series in the local market. We had a chance to test the realme 8 Pro days ahead of its launch and now it's time to share our camera experience with this latest midrange smartphone with a 108-megapixel camera.

This new midrange smartphone from realme comes in a new Infinite Bold Design. It's available in Infinite Black and Infinite Blue colors, but in India, they have the Illuminating Yellow that glows in the dark, lets's hope realme Philippines will also bring this to the local market.

Other features of the 8 Pro are the bold "DARE TO LEAP" printed slogan at the back, and the large quad-camera lens casing that protrudes at the back. It features a great-looking 6.4-inch (16.3cm) Super AMOLED screen, with Full HD+ (1080 × 2400 pixel) resolution with a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio.

It's powered by Qualcomm SM7125 Snapdragon 720G chipset, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage and packs a 4,500mAh battery, 50W SuperDart Charge.

Now the main feature of the 8 Pro is the 108-megapixel camera that incorporates Samsung's ISOCELL HM2, it also has an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens with 119° field of view, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel B&W lens. Upfront on the punch-hole there is a single 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 Sensor selfie camera.

The camera app features a wide selection of shooting modes such as Night, Video, Photo, Portrait, 108M, Starry Mode, Dual-view Video, Slo-mo, Time-lapse, AI Mixed portrait, Movie, Expert, Panorama, Text scanner, and Ultra micro.

Its equipped with in-sensor zoom technology that uses 3X Ultra Zoom to take photos that are no less than those taken with 3X optical zoom. It can shoot 8 pictures quickly each time and then process them to improve the sharpness in the output.

While the Super Nightscape Mode features a 9-in-1 pixel binning and Smart-ISO technology. The Pure Raw Nightscape algorithm uses AI image noise reduction and automatic dead pixel removal to keep nightscape pictures vivid and clear.


The Tilt-shift Time-lapse Video and Tilt-shift Mode provide a dramatic new perspective, making buildings and people look like miniature models.

With Starry Time-lapse Video and Starry Mode, it's capable of capturing stars and star trails with just one tap.

The Portrait mode now features different filters, which include, dynamic, neon, AI color, film, B&W, Tokyo, sweet, time, and Paris.

Dual-view Video mode is fun to use, With front and rear cameras recording video simultaneously, you can capture the same amazing moment from two different perspectives.

Ultra Nightscape Video now features an AI enhancement algorithm with smart lighting detection increasing brightness and clarity.

We did not have a chance to test all the camera modes since strict quarantine is still imposed, but we did manage to test some of its features, below are some of the sample photos and videos we took.

When the 108MP is used to take pictures it generates large picture file files, as large as up 40MB file size.

Overall the realme 8 Pro camera is impressive, it offers cool shooting modes with a lot of features. The 108-megapixel can really capture great images. It also supports 4K video recording at 30fps, and Full HD video recording at 60fps, and 1080p slow-mo video on the main camera, while the selfie camera is also capable of 1080p/30 fps video recording and also 1080p slow-mo video.

If you are looking for a smartphone that you can use for mobile photography and video content creation the realme 8 Pro is highly recommended.
